DRIVERS ARE BEING urged to make sure their cars are ready for the road this morning, after temperatures dipped as low as minus three overnight.

Along with the frost and ice, some areas of the country are also experiencing fog, according to reports this morning.

We’ll be saying goodbye to the cold spell later today, as cloud and rain sweep in from the northwest.

More persistent rain will follow from the west later in the afternoon and evening, affecting all areas, according to Met Éireann.

Temperatures will stay near-normal for the time of year in the coming days, with frost-free nights expected.

It will be windy with scattered blustery showers tomorrow.
