Garda injured after being attacked with bottle in Dublin

The garda needed stitches in his leg after the assault.

A GARDA HAS been injured in an assault in Dublin in the early hours of this morning.

Gardaí confirmed this morning that officers were called to a car on fire at New Campbell’s Bridge in Cabra at 5.30am this morning.

On arrival, the male garda was attacked by a man in his 30s who assaulted him with what is believed to have been a bottle. The garda was taken to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown where he received multiple stitches to his leg.

He has since been discharged from hospital. The man in his 30s was arrested over the incident and is currently being held at Finglas Garda Station.

Dublin Fire Brigade were also called to the scene to put out the blaze.
