DO YOU THINK gender quotas should be brought in for radio and TV presenters?

After the BBC and RTÉ released their salaries for their top-paid presenters – revealing a gap in pay and representation between men and women – there’s been much discussion about the representation of women in front of the mics and on our screens.

Communications minister Denis Naughten said that he’s prepared to introduce gender quotas for State broadcasters RTÉ and TG4, pending the findings of a report.

For commercial broadcasting operators, Naughten suggested that if they received funding from the State it could be partly linked to whether they hit gender targets.

So, Do you think that gender quotas for TV and radio presenters are a good idea?

Poll Results:

No (5834)
Yes (1548)
I don't know (313)
