German teenager in serious condition after falling from cliff in Clare

He suffered a number of injuries.

A 14-YEAR-OLD GERMAN boy is in hospital after falling from the Loop Head Peninsula in Co Clare.

Gardaí in Ennis informed the Coast Guard of the incident at 9.39am, but difficult conditions meant it took about two hours to winch the boy to safety.

The Coast Guard confirmed that he fell about 10 meters (32 foot) while out for a walk with his mother and father at the Bridges of Ross. The family is on holiday here.

The teenager fell on to rocks and has head injuries. The Coast Guard said he was unconscious for a period and also suffered fractures to both legs.

He was airlifted to University Hospital Limerick

Kilkee Coast Guard and Shannon-based Rescue 115 helicopter were involved in the rescue.
