'I'm not entirely ignorant': Gerry Adams had another run-in with the Ceann Comhairle earlier

THERE’S NO LOVE lost between Sinn Féin leader Gerry Adams and the Dáil Ceann Comhairle Seán Barrett.

The pair have clashed repeatedly over the last four years as Adams has sought to raise issues in the chamber. Last year Barrett was accused of being “unfair and petulant” by the Louth TD.

There was another testy exchange during Leaders’ Questions today when Adams attempted to raise issues related to NAMA and allegations that it was selling public assets to “vulture capitalists” without any democratic oversight.

Adams raised the case of one particular developer, whom he named, but insisted he was not suggesting any impropriety.

Barrett quickly stopped him in his tracks, saying:

Then what are we raising it for? Of course you’re implying [impropriety] …

Adams responded:

I wish, Ceann Comhairle, you wouldn’t interrupt my flow when I am asking a question.

As you might imagine, Barrett didn’t take too kindly to that:
