SINN FÉIN LEADER Gerry Adams clashed with Ceann Comhairle Seán Barrett after he attempted to raise a number of issues around the health service during Leaders’ Questions.

Adams raised a number of matters on foot of the government announcement on medical cards today, but he was warned by Barrett to stick to one topic.

Adams asked Barrett not to interrupt him before saying: ”I think it’s very interesting that when I ask the Taosiseach a question you interrupt me.”

A visibly angered Barrett replied: “Are you trying to imply that I am defending somebody?”

The Ceann Comhairle instructed Adams to resume his seat as he was on his feet before reminding the Sinn Féin leader of the rules of the House.
