THE TOWERING STAR of The Green Mile, Michael Clarke Duncan, has passed away. He was only 54 years old.

Clarke Duncan suffered a heart attack on 13 July last and died in an LA hospital earlier today, according to a statement from his publicist on behalf of his fiancée Omarosa Manigault.

The actor – who was 6ft 5in tall – had held down a number of low-wage jobs in his late teens and 20s. His IMDB biography states that at one point he worked security for celebrities such as Will Smith, Jamie Foxx and the Notorious BIG.

He really only got his break when he landed a role in Armageddon. He became friendly with Bruce Willis who helped him secure the role as John Coffey in The Green Mile, opposite Tom Hanks. For that poignant role as a Death Row inmate, Clarke Duncan was nominated for both a Golden Globe and an Academy Award.
