Two arrests after gardaí spot shotgun being passed between vehicles
A MAN AND woman have been arrested after gardaí observed a semi-automatic shotgun being handed between two vehicles in the Finglas area of Dublin.
It happened on Monday as part of an operation targeting an organised crime gang operating in the south and west of the city.
The 31-year-old man and a 53-year-old woman arrested in connection with the exchange of the shotgun have been detained for questioning and are being held at two Dublin stations.
More than a million euro worth of drugs were discovered in follow-up searches – including heroin and mixing agent worth around €900,000 and cocaine worth €140,000.
A sum of cash was also seized.
Gardaí said the intelligence-led operation was conducted by the Special Crime Task Force under the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau and supported by various specialist units from the Dublin Metropolitan Region.
