THE MOTHER OF Hassan Khan – who was killed last October – has been remanded in custody following another court hearing this morning.

Hazel Waters, 46, stands accused of the murder of her two-year-old son.

She was arrested days after the toddler’s body was found at an apartment in Ridge Hall, Ballybrack on 16 October 2014.

She appeared in front of Judge Michael Walsh at the Dublin District Court today and was remanded in custody until 25 March.

Prosecutors told the judge the DPP has decided to go to trial but needed more time to put a book of evidence together. The judge agreed to another four weeks.

Waters, wearing a pink top under a black blazer, appeared to be crying during the short hearing.

During a previous hearing, the accused remained silent when she was charged with murdering her son. She was granted free legal aid.

A coroner ruled earlier this month that Hassan died from “multiple penetrating wounds to the neck”.
