Headphones read your brainwaves and pick music to suit your mood

Prototype shown at tech conference determine your mood – and play songs to match.

THE TECH STRAND of the South by Southwest conference (SXSW) in Austin, Texas always throws up some interesting innovations.

A small, but very interesting one from this year’s conference are these headphones from Neurowear which purport to play music suited to your current mood.

The headphones, called Mico, detect your brainwaves to determine your mood, and then plays songs to match it via its iPhone app.

While music is playing, the side of the headphones indicate whether you’re focused, drowsy, or stressed out. Though, we could imagine that some people may not want to broadcast their mood.

The headphones are not yet available, as they’re still in the prototype stage, but you can see them in action below.
