
THE HIGH COURT HAS GRANTED former Fine Gael TD and senator Liam Cosgrave permission to challenge corruption charges made against him, RTÉ reports.
Cosgrave was arrested in late October 2010 after allegations that he received corrupt payments between 1992 and 1997 for re-zoning lands at Carrickmines, Co Dublin.
He is due to stand trial in October and the main witness at that trial is understood to be Frank Dunlop. However, his lawyers claim the inclusion of statements made by Dunlop, which were not disclosed to them earlier, is an abuse of process.
