A MAN IN his mid-30s has been arrested in connection with a hit and run in Dublin yesterday afternoon.

The suspect was detained by gardaí from Mountjoy Station at noon and is being questioned under Section Four of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

A 34-year-old man remains in a serious condition in the Mater Hospital. He was struck by a vehicle at Trinity Lane, just off the Clonliffe Road at about 1pm yesterday.

The vehicle left the scene and an alarm was raised about 30 minutes after the incident. The man, who was on temporary release from prison, was transferred to hospital where he remains.

The car was later found burnt out on Stoney Road in East Wall. It is understood the victim was targeted intentionally.
