Man seriously injured after Westmeath hit and run

Gardaí are asking anyone with information about the collision to contact Cavan Garda Station.

A MAN IN his late 30s has been seriously injured after he was struck in a hit and run yesterday afternoon.

The incident happened at around 3pm at Magheraboy Upper in Finnea – a village in Westmeath on the border with Cavan.

The male pedestrian was seriously injured and has been taken to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin.

Gardaí are now seeking witnesses to the hit and run traffic collision.

The car involved is described as a dark coloured saloon car and had come from the Ballyjamesduff direction.

The R194 is closed at the scene of the collision to facilitate a technical examination of the area by Garda forensic collision investigators.

Gardaí are asking anyone with information about the collision to contact them at Cavan Garda Station on 049 4368800.
