Homicides increase by nearly 20% after review finds gardaí inaccurately recorded all types of crime

234 homicides between 2003 and 2016 weren’t recorded properly by the gardaí.

The CSO will publish crime statistics for the first time in almost a year later today

The stats will be published in a new “Under Reservation” category to indicate that the source of the data is not reliable.
