Let it all hang out: 6 coat hooks for a welcoming and uncluttered hallway
ARE YOU DROWNING in coats but find that the selection of hangers is surprisingly limited?
Whether you have two or ten people under one roof, an accumulation of coats and bags is inevitable – and having them dumped in a heap in the hallway is far from ideal.
This week, we scoured Instagram to give you our edit of stylish ways to cut the clutter. Here’s how you can make your hallway a welcome space that isn’t bogged down with heaps of coats, bags and brollies.
Spot the dots: @heikes_homestory uses space wisely by filling this nook with two ways to hang coats and bags. We love both the DIY and designer elements in this area that showcase a mix of raw and polished wood for great contrast.

Vintage vibes: For a narrow hallway, hanging things high and flush with the wall just makes sense. @thehouseonthestreet goes for a vintage row of hooks that are space-saving and stand out nicely against the whitewashed walls and doorway.

New build: On the other hand, if space is on your side, be sure to use it. A storage solution from @wouddesign ensures plenty of hanging room and a shelf for other bits and bobs overhead.

Bespoke beauty: If you’re in for the long haul (hall, geddit?) then why not go bespoke? It requires more of a commitment, and not to mention, funding, but if it ends up looking even half as nice as @jamienaugleinteriors ‘s, it’ll be worth it, right?
Checking out bespoke furniture makers like Noel Dempsey Kitchens and Interiors should be your first step.
Handy hooks: @edwardianhouseinharrogate keeps things subtle by doubling up and incorporating hooks into the brackets of this shelf. The clever addition of the bench creates storage below for shoes, too.

Trees company: @klybeck_furniture brings nature indoors with this wooden coat stand that’s a modern take on a traditional design. If you have the room, then a freestanding piece can do its job as well as act as an interesting focal point in the room.
