AFTER FOUR WEEKS of murders, banishments, and blackmails, we have arrived at the final episode of The Traitors.

The five finalists – traitors Ben and Nick and faithfuls Kelley, Oyin and Vanessa – are within touching distance of the prize pot, but of course, not everyone can be a winner.

The final episode will air this evening on RTÉ One at 9.35pm. How will the end game play out, and how does somebody actually win?

The rules

There will be no more murders by the traitors; their last opportunity to murder a faithful was the night they killed Wilkin.

The only way that players will be knocked out of the game now is through being voted out.

The aim for the remaining faithfuls is to try to get out any traitors still lurking in their midst, while the traitors will be trying to stay under the radar until the very end so they can claim the prize pot for themselves.

A final roundtable will take place followed by what is known as the ‘end game’.

During the end game, in a series of votes, players will have a choice to vote to end the game or to carry out another banishment.

If even one player wants to banish, then everyone must participate in a banishment vote to knock out another player.

This process continues until players vote to end the game or until only two contestants remain.

At that point, if only faithfuls are left, then the prize pot will be split evenly between them. A faithful player can’t win alone; to win, they need to finish alongside at least one other faithful who they can share the prize with.

But if one of the players is a traitor, then they’ll steal all the money for themselves.

If two traitors are left, or two traitors with a faithful/faithfuls, the traitors steal the money, splitting it between just the two of them.

At least one other example from the franchise internationally has detailed what would happen in the event that the three final players were all traitors, which could become a little more complicated, but given that there are only two traitors in this final, that won’t come into play tonight.

Who do you think will win?
