FOR MOST OF us, the Bank Holiday is a time of relaxation and rest, but by the time Monday comes around, others are itching to do pass the time.

If that’s you, it’s time to make your own ketchup.

DaveHax has posted a simple video-guide online explaining how exactly to go about it. It’s quick, with no cooking involved, and most of the ingredients you’re likely to already have lying around.

You’ll need:

  • 200g Tomato Paste
  • 1 Heaped Tablespoon of Brown Sugar
  • 3 Tablespoons of White Vinegar
  • 1/2 Cup of Water
  • 1/2 Small Onion
  • 1/2 Teaspoon of Mustard
  • 1/4 Teaspoon of Ground Cloves
  • 1/4 Teaspoon of Ground Cinnamon
  • 1/4 Teaspoon of Salt

Peel and chop the onion in half. Add the heaped tablespoon of brown sugar into half a cup of hot water. Wait for it to cool, lob half an onion in, and blend.

Grab a bowl, and throw in your tomato paste, along with the mustard, cloves, cinnamon, salt, and vinegar.

Finally, add in that delicious onion and brown sugar water and whisk the unpleasant looking mix.

And you’re done! You can pour it back into a bottle for storage.
