TWO MEN WERE arrested last week in connection with what had been described at the time as a ‘credible threat’ made against the Intel plant in Leixlip in January.

A call had been made to the plant early in the morning on 13 January and the campus was immediately evacuated. Trained Intel security personnel conducted a search but no devices were discovered.

A garda investigation was launched which led to the arrests of the two men, who are aged 19 and 20. The Herald reports this morning that one of the men was  a former employee of the company.

One source told that one of the men was also found in possession of a quantity of cannabis herb.

A garda spokesperson confirmed the two men were questioned by Detectives from Balbriggan Garda Station about the incident and later released without charge. A file has been sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions.
