Gardaí investigate fire at derelict nursing home

Two girls were said to have been on the roof of the building, but no one was injured.

A NURSING HOME went on fire in the Rathmines area this morning, with two teenage girls said to have been on the roof at the time.

They were unharmed and helped from the scene by the emergency services, a source told TheJournal.ie.

The Dublin Fire Brigade confirmed there had been a domestic roof on fire in the Effra Road area. The gardaí said they were investigating a fire in Rathmines.

Three fire brigade pumps attended the scene at around 7.30am.

An ambulance was called but was eventually stood down as it was not required.

No one was injured in the incident.

The source said that the building sustained damage to the roof and upper floors during the incident.
