GARDAÍ AND TUSLA, the child and family agency, are investigating an alleged incidence of child sexual abuse at a creche in Co Kildare.

It’s understood the allegations have been made by the parents of two children and that they concern a single staff member.

“An Garda Síochána are investigating a complaint and are currently working with Tusla,” a Garda spokesperson said in a statement.

The investigation is at an early stage and is of a sensitive nature and an Garda Síochána is not in a position to comment further.

No arrests have as yet been made in the investigation.

Tusla meanwhile declined to comment directly on the investigation.

“Tusla does not comment on individual cases,” a spokesperson said.

This is to protect the confidentiality and privacy of the children and families with whom we work.
When an allegation is made in relation to a staff member at a creche, the first priority is to ensure the safety of the children in question. As with all child protection concerns, a concern about a creche is dealt with in line with Children First and Tusla regulatory procedures for early years services. Tusla responds to risks of this nature in a proportionate manner, based on the risk to the children.
