Planning on leaving the house today? You could go for a walk and help Irish wildlife

And you can do it directly from your phone…

IF YOU ARE planning some nature walks in the crisp winter air with the family, you might spot some interesting creatures hanging around.

The National Biodiversity Data Centre is calling on people across the country to help make 2015 a really good year for Irish wildlife, by assisting them in building up their database.

They want you to let them know what you see while you’re out on walks with family, your dog or just going about your general business.

The centre is aiming to produce, for the first time ever, detailed distribution maps for all species of wild mammals that occur in Ireland and its marine water – but they can’t do that without your help.

To make it easier, the centre has released an app which allows anyone to send it details of sightings directly from your phone.

Source: Google Play Store

The app is free to download for IOS and Android phones.

So far the project has collated 113,000 records of more than 60 species and with your help they can add to that.
