AN IRISH EMIGRANT living in New York walked away with little more than a broken shoulder despite being run over by three subway trains yesterday.

The woman, identified as 22-year-old Mary Downey by the New York Post, is believed to have fallen onto the tracks of the N train at 49th Street and 7th Avenue at around 6am yesterday.

While on the tracks, she managed to get herself into a safe location, possibly by rolling into the gap between the tracks.

She lay on the tracks as two trains passed over her. It wasn’t until the third train passed that the driver stopped, but only as the third carriage was on top of the Irish woman.

She was taken from the tracks by paramedics who arrived on scene shortly after.

An NYPD spokesperson confirmed to that the woman was taken to Bellevue Hospital for treatment of injuries to her hip and arm.

The Daily Post quotes FDNY Battalion Chief Mike Meyers as saying that Downey rolled to the platform.

“She was lucky enough to have, it looks like to us, rolled to the platform and was in between the platform and the train when the train came into the station.”
