The Jaguar F-Type has a wicked-sounding V6 and is loved by villains

One seriously desirable coupe.

IF I HAD the money I’d buy…

One of the most elegant modern sports cars on sale today, and one that looks good from every angle. A car engineered for high performance and responsive handling and one that is dripping with desirability and kerb appeal. And has a raucous soundtrack. I’d buy a Jaguar F-Type.

Why a Jaguar F-Type?

The F-Type effortlessly blends style with performance, showing its lineage to the stunning and iconic E-Type. Its silhouette is instantly recognisable by its feline-style headlights and seductively long bonnet, steeply raked windscreen and wide rear haunches.

It is a design that is synonymous with luxury and performance.

And speaking of performance, the F-Type does 0-100km/h in 4.8 seconds and has a top speed of 275km/h.

What’s special about this particular one?

This 2017 S model is powered by the wonderful 3.0-litre V6 380hp supercharged petrol engine. It looks very sporty with its 20-inch Turbine Silver alloy wheels with upgraded Jaguar Super Performance Braking System with 380mm red callipers, deployable rear spoiler, twin exhausts and contrasting black carbon fibre roof.

Inside, it looks equally racy – but elegant too, with its performance seats finished in Ivory Premium leather. There is also configurable ambient interior lighting with selectable palettes, so you can tailor the cabin to your mood. Fancy!

As you would expect, it is dripping in luxury features and convenience options too – think heated seats, Meridian 380w sound system with 10 speakers, colour touchscreen display, Bluetooth and all the other connectivity tech you might need.

Safety features abound – including emergency brake assist, electronic brake-force distribution, and automatic headlamps with washers.

Who else drives one?

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has a custom-built F-Type. Duran Duran’s John Taylor has one that he has named ‘Foxy’ and supermodel Jodie Kidd calls her red F-Type ‘Ole Girl’.

Oh and the F-Type is a firm favourite with British villains – no not Piers Morgan, big screen baddies. The opening scene of Fast and Furious 7 saw bad guy Jason Statham race off in a white F-Type and Jaguar’s own 2014 Super Bowl commercial sees three well know British ‘villains’ claim it’s ‘Good to be Bad’ in a Jag. It costs €140,300. What else could you get for the money?

For the same money, you could have this lovely villa in the countryside in Puglia, Italy.

… or this two-bedroom bungalow on three-quarters-of-an-acre of grounds in Co Tyrone.
