A 56-YEAR-OLD man was arrested in connection with the abduction and murder of Jean McConville in Belfast in 1972 today
The suspect has been taken to the Serious Crime Suite at Antrim police station for questioning but was later released.
The 37-year-old disappeared from her west Belfast home in December 1972. She was shot by the IRA but her body was not recovered until August 2003.
Last month, alleged former IRA commander Ivor Bell was charged with aiding and abetting the murder of the mother-of-ten, and with IRA membership.
Bell was later granted bail, and will appear again in court next month.
The court heard that an interview given by the defendant to Boston College researchers was used as evidence by detectives.
