REPUBLICAN BOBBY STOREY has been released this evening, after being held for several hours for questioning as part of the investigation into the abduction and murder of Jean McConville.

Storey — chairman of Belfast Sinn Féin — was arrested in the city this morning.

In a statement tonight, the PSNI said he had been released without charge, pending a report to the Public Prosecution Service.

McConville was 37 when she was abducted from her flat in Belfast in 1972 and shot by the IRA. She was a widow and left behind ten children.

Her remains were located at a beach in Louth in 2003.
