A MAN HAS been arrested in connection with the murder of prominent loyalist John Boreland on Sunday evening.

The 42-year-old man was arrested late last night in north Belfast.

He is being held for questioning at Musgrave Police Station.

46-year-old Boreland was gunned down while getting into his car at Sunningdale Gardens in the city just before 10pm on Sunday.

The PSNI have appealed for calm in the city in the wake of the murder.

The shooting is believed to relate to an ongoing loyalist power struggle.
