4 events for... getting gloriously outdoors this Bank Holiday weekend

WHETHER YOUR IDEA of getting outdoors means spending time relaxing in nature or letting loose at an open air concert, we’ve got you covered this Bank Holiday weekend.

From yoga in the courtyard of the General Post Office to a four-day festival in Kildare, below are four events that’ll bring you into the great outdoors this weekend. Just don’t forget your raincoat.

1. Rock the Yard

When: 31 May – 3 June

Where: The Court Yard Hotel, Main Street, Leixlip, Co Kildare

Now in its 30th year, Rock the Yard festival is taking place over four days this Bank Holiday weekend, with the lineup including Wild Youth, Hermitage Green and The Riptide Movement. The weekend ticket costs €40, while a day ticket is €10.

2. Courtyard Yoga

When: Every Sunday in June

Where: General Post Office, O’Connell Street, Dublin 1

If you’re looking to do something a little more low key this weekend, a yoga class in the courtyard of the GPO might do the trick. The classes are open to yogis of all levels, with complimentary refreshments available afterwards. Tickets are €16.87.

3. Cork Harbour Festvial

When: 1-9 June

Where: across Cork harbour and city

Taking place in 15 locations across Cork harbour and city, 70 events are set to take place over Cork Harbour Festival’s nine days. There are events on both water and on land, including a Cork city to Cobh harbour tour, stand up paddle boarding, a Johnny Cash tribute concert on Spike Island and a ghost tour.

4. Dun Laoghaire Pier Summer Concerts

When: 31 May – 2 June

Where: Dun Laoghaire Pier

If Rock the Yard doesn’t suit your music tastes, Dun Laoghaire Pier’s series of summer concerts might. Over Friday, Saturday and Sunday, acts including Deacon Blue, Madness, Primal Scream and The Charlatans will take to the stage for a series of open air concerts that will leave you feeling like you’re anywhere but Dublin.
