'I'm responsible for killing Kenneth': Dublin man charged over O'Brien murder

A MAN HAS appeared in court charged with the murder of Kenneth O’Brien.

Paul Wells, with an address in Barnamore Park, Finglas was cautioned at Naas garda station and responded: ”I’m responsible for killing Kenneth.”

The 48-year-old appeared before Dublin’s District Court this evening. He has now been remanded in custody.

The dismembered remains of 33-year-old O’Brien were discovered in the Grand Canal at Ardclough village in Kildare on 16 January.

Wells is accused of killing the victim at his home address in Finglas.

He was arrested on Saturday morning, 6 February 2016 and has been detained under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2007 since.

A second man previously arrested by gardaí had already been released without charge.

Wells is next due in Cloverhill District Court on Thursday 18 February at 10.15am.

O’Brien’s partner Eimear was present in court for the brief hearing this evening.
