AFTER A WEEK of temperatures lingering around a comfortable 15 degrees, we could be about to experience a bout of real Leaving Cert weather.

Met Éireann is predicting temperatures to rise for the rest of the week, creeping into the low twenties from Wednesday to Friday while students take on subjects like French, History, and Business.

These conditions will be mainly in the west of the country, while those pesky sea breezes will bring the temperatures down slightly in the east.

But of course, this is Ireland. Showery rain is also predicted in the south of the country for Thursday evening.

By Friday, these will be more widespread, and some could be heavy and thundery, but temperatures still remaining around 20 degrees.

Weather predictions like these for more than a couple of days in advance always come with a health warning, but Met Éireann believes a low-pressure system over the Irish Sea on Saturday could give way to a high pressure yet again on Sunday and a return to those balmy temperatures.
