THE RNLI LIFEBOAT from Crosshaven was called to assist a 12 metre French yacht with two people on board yesterday evening.

The yacht was two miles south of Power Head in Cork and had fouled a propeller. Crosshaven RNLI said weather conditions at the time were calm with heavy fog banks rolling off the coast.

The French registered yacht was on its way to Kinsale when it became entangled in an old lobster pot line, leaving it effectively anchored.

The lifeboat crew cut away the line and took the yacht in tow, arriving back in Crosshaven some two hours later where the yacht was safely docked at the boatyard.
