LIVE: House of Commons debates release of Hillsborough documents

MPs debate a motion calling for the release of all documents relating to the Hillsborough Stadium disaster of 1989.

96 Liverpool fans died as a result of the tragedy at the FA cup semi-final in Sheffield. This debate, calling for the release of all documents relating to the disaster, was initiated by an e-petition backed by 100,000 members of the public.

The full text of the motion being debated is as follows:

That this House calls for the full disclosure of all government-related documents, including Cabinet minutes, relating to the 1989 Hillsborough disaster; requires that such documentation be uncensored and without redaction; and further calls for the families of the 96 and the Hillsborough Independent Panel to have unrestricted access to that information.
