ACTRESS ELIZABETH TAYLOR has reportedly died at the age of 79.

Taylor, who became famous as a child actor in National Velvet in 1944, had suffered ill-health for a number of years. She had been in Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles for the past two months where she had been treated for symptoms of congestive heart failure. A number of major American outlets have been reporting Taylor’s death in the past hour, including ABC, CNN and MSNBC.

The star of more than 50 films won two Oscars for Butterfield 8 and Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf in 1960 and 1966 respectively, but latterly had become more famous for her eight marriages. Two of these were to fellow actor Richard Burton.

She starred with Burton in one of her most famous roles in Cleopatra. RIP Liz.
