In 2018, the offices of two journalists were searched who were investigating the 1994 Loughinisland massacre.
“Police officers were going through our computers, and taking documents that were completely unrelated to the film.”
Chief Constable of the PSNI George Hamilton appeared before the Policing Board yesterday, defending the decision to launch the inquiry.
The journalists were arrested over the suspected theft of documents used in a documentary re-examining the 1994 murders.
A new documentary names the suspects in the massacre that killed five people while they watched Ireland play in the 1994 World Cup.
It was due tomorrow, but will be released on Friday.
The show will air in the States on Tuesday.
The match comes 18 years to the day sine six men were killed while watching the two countries play.
