Man in his 70s dies in Limerick road accident

A MAN in his 70s has died from injuries sustained in a road accident outside Limerick city yesterday afternoon.

The man was injured when a car struck a 4×4 on the old main Dublin road at Lisnagry, around five kilometres outside Limerick city.

The deceased was taken to Mid-Western Regional Hospital in Limerick city where he died overnight from his injuries.

A second man, 75, remains in the hospital in a critical condition. A third man, aged 48, has non-life threatening injuries.

The section of the road was briefly closed to facilitate forensic examinations, but has since reopened.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is asked to contact Gardaí at Henry St, Limerick, at (061) 212400.
