A MAN HAS been remanded in custody at a court in north Wales charged with murdering Catherine Gowing, the Irish woman who has been missing for over a week.

Clive Sharpe, 46 appeared before a magistrates court in Mold this morning where he was remanded to appear before Caernarfon Crown Court on Tuesday, BBC News reports.

The defendant was dressed in a blue top and dark trousers and did not say anything during the course of the one minute hearing beyond confirming his name and age.

There was no application for bail.

Offaly-born Gowing has not been seen since Friday, 12 October when she was last spotted visiting an Asda store in Queensferry after she had finished work at a veterinary clinic in Mold where she had been employed for the past two years.

Yesterday police confirmed that a burnt out car found close to disused quarry at Pinfold Lane in Alltami belonged to the Offaly woman.
