Man in his 20s drowns in Castletownbere

It is believed the man may have lost his life in tragic circumstances.

A MAN IN his twenties has died in the Castletownbere area of Co Cork.

A spokesperson for the RNLI told that the man was reported missing this morning. The Castletownbere RNLI lifeboat was launched at 1.35pm.

The man, who is in his 20s, was located a mile and a half off Travarra, which is an inlet in the Beara Peninsula, by a local vessel.

He was immediately transferred to the lifeboat and brought back to Castletownbere.

He was then pronounced dead at the scene by a doctor.
