Three armed men forced their way into the home in Mayfield, Co Cork this morning

A MAN IN his 30s was hospitalised last night after three armed intruders broke into his home in Co Cork.

The aggravated burglary took place at around 12:40am on Monday in the Lagan Grove area of Mayfield, Cork City.

The raiders, who gardaí said were armed with “implements”, confronted the occupants of the home before fleeing the scene.

Gardaí on patrol nearby responded quickly, and arrested a man in his 30s at the scene.

He is currently being held at a Garda station in Co Cork.

One of the occupants of the home, a man in his 30s, was brought to Cork University Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries following the break-in.

A technical examination of the property has been carried out by gardaí, as investigations continue.

“Anyone with information is urged to contact Mayfield garda station on (021) 455 8510, the garda confidential line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station,” a garda spokesperson said.

“Investigations are ongoing,” they added.
