Man arrived at Dublin Airport after swallowing 0.5kgs of cocaine

The man (34) was a UK national who had taken a flight from Sao Paulo in Brazil.

A MAN WAS found by Revenue staff to have arrived at Dublin Airport after swallowing 0.5kgs of cocaine.

The man was discovered by officers from Revenue’s Customs Service.

Over the weekend, these officers seized drugs with a total street value of €370,000 at Dublin Airport.

On Friday, they undertook an intelligence-led operation that saw a man being detained. He was found to have ingested 0.5 kgs of cocaine in pellet form. The drugs had a street value of €35,000.

The man was 34 years old and a UK national. He had arrived on a flight from Sao Paulo, Brazil. He appeared at the Criminal Courts of Justice yesterday before Judge Patrick Clyne, where he was remanded in custody to appear again in one week.

Meanwhile, in a joint operation with the Garda National Immigration unit yesterday, officers discovered 16.76kgs of herbal cannabis in the baggage of a 42 year old South African national. The man had arrived on a flight from Johannesburg and the drugs had a street value of €335,000.

He appeared in court today, where Judge Patricia McNamara remanded him in custody to appear again at Cloverhill Court in one week.
