According to the Middle East Eye, at least 112 people were killed in the bombing and subsequent air raid.

When he could not be found, Rayhan’s family assumed he was dead.

The paper notes that wakes in Syria typically last three days and Rayhan showed up on the final day of his own.

The UK Independent quotes the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights as saying this type of incident “happens many times in Syria now”.

The death toll since the start of the Syrian war in 2011 is estimated to exceed 300,000 people.
