THREE MEN ARE due to appear before a special sitting of Trim District Court this evening after an attempted cash-in-transit van robbery in Meath on Friday morning.

Gardaí intercepted a number of high level targets during the course of the robbery outside a bank in Dunboyne.

Three men in their 30s were arrested after a firearm was recovered. Two were arrested at the scene and another man was arrested a short distance away.

Gardaí described it as a “significant operation”. Three men have now been charged in connection with this investigation.

At a press conference on Friday, Detective Superintendent Tony Howard said, “One of the gang had been wearing body armour… So there was an anticipation that they may have come in contact with An Garda Síochána.”
