A METRPOLITAN police officer in Islington, England, has been fired without notice after posting offensive messages about his colleague on Facebook and for threatening another officer.

The UK’s Independent Police Complaints Commission said the 35-year-old referred to a colleague as a “grass” and “liar” in the online comments just over a year ago.

The former officer sent another colleague, with whom the IPCC says he had a relationship, a series of abusive texts after their relationship soured. He also subjected her to verbal abuse and threatened her.

IPCC Commissioner Rachel Cerfontyne said she was “completely dismayed” when she read the “shocking things” the man had written on Facebook and heard of his abusive behaviour towards his female colleague. She said:

He worked in a job that demanded trust and respect and yet acted in a way that resembled a nasty schoolyard bully.
