You could hear this TD's ringing endorsement of Enda all over Leinster House

JUNIOR MINISTER MICHAEL Ring has acquired a bit of a reputation for being shouty when he delivers a speech in the Dáil chamber.

‘Ringer’ may be a Fine Gael rival of Enda Kenny’s in the Mayo constituency, but this evening in the Dáil the sports minister gave the Taoiseach a ringing endorsement.

And he absolutely lashed Fianna Fáil.

Ring was particularly incensed at Fianna Fáil TD Niall Collins’s call for the transcripts of evidence to the Fennelly Commmission to be made public.

He pointed out this would be an offence under legislation Fianna Fáil itself introduced when in government.

“How could anyone treat you seriously?” he asked a distinctly unimpressed Collins who was sat across the chamber.

But Ring wasn’t finished and it was at that point that the decibel levels rose considerably and the roof almost came off Leinster House:

Even the opposition enjoyed it a little bit:

Following the conclusion of a three hour debate, the government won a motion of confidence in itself, the Taoiseach and the Attorney General Máire Whelan by 94 votes to 52.
