Police arrest two men on suspicion of murder over missing 14-year-old girl

Alice Gross has not been seen in eleven days.

POLICE IN LONDON have arrested two men on suspicion of murder in connection with a missing 14-year-old girl.

A 25-year-old man was arrested on Saturday evening and a 51-year-old man was arrested yesterday.

In a statement, London Metropolitan Police said they were not prepared to discuss the arrests further.

Teenager Alice Gross was last seen by her family on the afternoon of Thursday 28 August when she left her home in Hanwell in west London and said she would be home that evening. She never returned.

She was captured on CCTV walking along a nearby canal path at 2.23pm walking away from her home and again at 3.45pm returning towards her home.

Her rucksack was later discovered on the path.

Police said the investigation is still being treated as a missing person’s inquiry but due to the high risk nature and concerns for her welfare, the case is now being led by homicide investigators.

Police have said they are especially concerned as Alice had not been in good health.

Searches are continuing around the canal today with underwater search times and specialist dog units at the scene.
