TWO YOUNG SISTERS who went missing yesterday evening after going to a play in a park near their home were found safe today in a derelict house, according to the Greater Manchester Police.

Police said that a third girl, a 14-year-old who was also listed as a missing child, was also found today. Her name has not been released.

Sisters Liana Boyd, 11, and Teigan Boyd, 8, went to play in Whitworth Park near their home at around 8pm yesterday. The alarm was raised when their mother went to the park a short time later and was unable to find them.

A major police search was launched and Chief Superintendent Rob Potts appealed for witnesses to come forward and provide information about the girls’ disappearance or whereabouts. Potts said this morning that police were “pulling out all the stops to find them safe and well”.

Later today, police issued a statement saying that officers looking for the two sisters had come across a 14-year-old girl out walking who had been separately reported as a missing child. The girl led the officers to a house where they found Liana and Teigan Boyd.

Potts praised the public and police for their efforts in locating the girls, and added that no further information will be released by police “until we have fully spoken to everyone involved”.

“The most important thing is that the girls have been found safe and well,” he said in a statement.

“Liana and Teigan are safe and well, along with the 14-year-old girl who was also missing. We are speaking to all three to fully establish what happened and will be continuing to work with partner agencies.”
