Mitt 'Stormin' Mormon' Romney suffered (another) painful defeat last-night

He was ‘fighting’ a world champ, in fairness.

IT MIGHTN’T BE the most painful defeat of his career, but two-time presidential candidate Mitt Romney lost to Evander Holyfield in a charity boxing match last night.

Romney, 68, and Holyfield, 52, sparred, if you could call it that, for just two short rounds before Romney ran away from the boxer and his corner threw in the towel.

The two barely threw any punches and largely just danced around, occasionally lightly jabbing each other in the midsection.

President Obama’s vanquished challenger did manage to ‘knock down’ the four-time world champ as part of an event that organisers say raised at least $1 million.

All proceeds are going to blindness group Charity Vision, of which Romney’s son Josh is a volunteer president.

“He said, ‘You know what? You float like a bee and sting like a butterfly,’” Romney said after the fight.

The fight took place in Romney’s hometown of Salt Lake City where he is hugely popular as probably America’s most high-profile Mormon.
