Body of security guard found at Navan Retail Park after suspected workplace accident

THE BODY OF a man in his 40s has been discovered at Navan Retail Park in Meath this morning.

The body was discovered underneath a gate at about 6.30 this morning at the retail park on the western outskirts of the town.

The man is believed to have been a security guard for the park.

He is believed to have become trapped beneath the gate by accident

Gardaí and emergency services were called to the scene this morning.

The man’s body was taken to Navan General Hospital where a post-mortem will be carried out.

The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) was notified by gardaí following the incident and the scene has been preserved for a technical examination.

A spokesperson for the HSA confirmed that it is investigating the incident which is being treated as a workplace accident.
