TRAFFIC IN DUBLIN has ground to a standstill after a second burst water main at Newlands Cross in a week.

The road, which is undergoing a €282 million upgrade, is closed inbound after the burst.

Commuters are reporting that the problem is causing traffic jams on the M50 and surrounding areas.

On the outbound side, traffic is moving slowly, with a large number of people heading to the Punchestown Festival.

The disruption will cause a headache as a large number of people begin moving around the country for the long weekend.
