Man dies after O'Connell Street stabbing; bus and Luas services resume after scene reopens

A MAN HAS been arrested in connection with a fatal stabbing incident last night on Dublin’s O’Connell Street in which a man died. 

The man was taken to the Mater Hospital with apparent stab wounds and was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.

A man in his late 20s has been arrested in connection with the investigation, gardaí have said. 

The incident happened at about 1.40 am and there was traffic disruption at the scene for a number of hours this morning.

Dublin Bus is advising commuters that diversions are no longer in place in the area, while Luas Cross City services between Dominick Street and St Stephen’s Green are back up and running after being suspended while gardaí attended the scene.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone with any information on the incident or who was on O’Connell Street in the early hours of the morning to contact them
