AN INQUEST INTO the death of Peaches Geldof is to open next week, it has been confirmed.

The inquest will take place less than a fortnight after the funeral of the 25-year-old, after a post-mortem examination proved inconclusive.

Inquests are fact-finding proceedings which are held for several reasons, including when the cause of death is still uncertain after a post-mortem.

The hearing, which is only expected to last ten minutes, will be opened and then adjourned by the coroner, Roger Hatch, next Thursday, according to KentOnline.

It is expected that the coroner will release the cause of death following a statement from a senior police officer.

A date for the full inquest is then due to be set later.

The body of the 25-year-old mother of two young children was found on 7 April at her home in Kent. Police have said her death is being treated as a “non-suspicious, unexplained sudden death”.
