DAREDEVIL NIK WALLENDA has become the first person ever to walk a tightrope across the broadest stretch of Niagara Falls after successfully completing the challenge last night.
The 33-year-old set out in front of hundreds of spectators for the 34-minute trip through the spray just metres above the roaring water.
According to the LA Times, Wallenda wore special shoes made by his mother for the walk across the wire.
The stunt was broadcast live in the US on ABC News, and Wallenda said afterwards that TV executives had spoken to him midway across. He told the Canadian Press:
Actually, I had a producer in my ear saying, ‘You know what, you need to slow down a little.’ I was like, ‘I don’t want to slow down. I want to get across to the other side.’
